One step closer....

Michael has had to have a couple of things taken care of before we can turn his mission papers in. One was to have surgery to repair a hernia (the above picture). This was a new experience for Michael so I shouldn't have been surprised when he came out of the bathroom after several minutes as he prepared for surgery and asked me if the hospital gown tied in the front or the back. When he came out the second time he DID have the gown on the right way but it wasn't tied (one of the ties was broken). I suggested that he ask for a different gown but he didn't want to so he just sat down and waited. When they came to take him back for surgery, I about died to see the gown flapping in the breeze behind him!! I'm sure he caused a few laughs on the way to surgery but who can't use a laugh once in a while! All went well and after a few days of taking it easy and a few weeks of now heavy lifting, he is almost as good as new.

Last Tuesday Michael had his three wisdom teeth pulled. Recovering from that was a LOT worse than the hernia surgery but he is doing better now. We are so close to sending his mission papers in. (Just one more little medical issue to deal with). We are getting a little anxious to find out where he will be serving his mission and when he will leave. My nephew Matt got his mission call last week to Rome, Italy! How awesome is that?! For some reason I can picture Michael going to South America but who knows...he could end up in Idaho!:) I'm just glad that we don't get to choose where he goes because part of me wants him to go across the world somewhere to experience an entirely different culture and the other part of me wants him to go to Idaho or somewhere in the States that feels a bit safer and more predictable. I honestly feel that the mission calls are inspired and that he will go where he can make the biggest difference! Soon I will ask all of you (all two of you)who read my blog what your predictions are as to where Michael will go. Maybe I'll even offer a little prize for the closest guess! So stay tuned....

I just have to share what my cute boys did for me a couple of weeks ago. For Family Home Evening we decided to get out of the house and do something different. We each drew a name of someone in the family and searched around Walmart for a little surprise for that person. The little kids teamed up with one of the older kids and tried to sneak around so the others wouldn't see. I should have taken pictures of all the little gifts that were given but I only thought about taking a picture of MY gift because it was so pretty. Michael had my name and picked out a bouquet of beautiful daisies (my favorite flower)! It made me feel so good that he was so thoughtful about what to get. It has been over two weeks and the flowers still look fresh and beautiful! The next day, my heart just melted when Isaac came through the door after school with a "surprise" for me... a dandelion without a stem. I love the little stemless dandelion just as much as I love the daisies because it was just as thoughtful! I think that Isaac has brought me those lovely little weeds every spring...so sweet!

What cute baby pictures!!! I wish Michael the best, I can't believe he's old enough to go on a mission! You seem too young for a child that age. I love the look of your blog. How did you get a template like that?

Ohhhh, Linda you are so wonderful! I love the grateful heart you have! And I LOVE that you shared Michael's gown story; that is hillarious! I had a gown that was missing a tie or two when I had Massimo and I drove me nutty!!! I had them bring in another STAT! Marco would have been laid back about it though, just enjoying the breeze and all. Too funny!

What a cute story. I guess I need to be more appreciative of the dandelions Kate brings home to me!
